«Planeterna/Enigma» is a classical music album featuring works by Holst and Elgar, released by Deutsche Grammophon on audio CD.
The CD brings together two landmarks of the orchestral repertoire: «The Planets», by Gustav Holst, a suite in seven movements portraying each celestial body with its own character, and the «Enigma Variations», by Edward Elgar, a series of orchestral variations of great expressive richness. The performances are by William Steinberg and Eugen Jochum, two conductors with long careers in the symphonic repertoire.
Audio CD edition with one disc, part of the Eloquence collection from the Deutsche Grammophon label.
Recommended for classical music enthusiasts who want two orchestral masterpieces in a single recording from a historic label.
