«Pirata» is the album by Brazilian singer Maria Bethânia, released in 2006 on CD.
Bethânia's voice brings to life a narrator from the interior who, without ever having seen the sea, evokes it as a distant blue horizon and discovers it in the rivers and streams she knows. The songs combine longing, memory and nature, with sparse arrangements that highlight the vocal performance within the framework of MPB. Notable tracks include "O Tempo e o Rio", "Os Argonautas" and "Eu Que Não Sei Quase Nada do Mar".
The edition includes a single disc with 15 songs; it was released in Brazil and belongs to MPB.
For MPB listeners and followers of Maria Bethânia's career; the sober arrangements leave the voice in the spotlight.
