«Pictures at an Exhibition / Symphony No. 2; Polovtsian Dances» is the album by the Berlin Philharmonic with Simon Rattle, released on CD in 2008.
The CD brings together «Pictures at an Exhibition», by Mussorgsky orchestrated by Ravel, evoking a walk through an art gallery; Borodin's «Symphony No. 2», with its broad lyricism and rhythmic vigour; and the «Polovtsian Dances» from the opera Prince Igor, full of colour and energy.
The recording comes from the 2007 New Year's Eve concert given by the Berlin Philharmonic at the Berliner Philharmonie; the CD has a duration of 74 minutes.
For classical music listeners interested in the Russian symphonic repertoire and in great orchestral ensembles.
