«Piano Trios» is a classical music album by the Wanderer Trio featuring works by Maurice Ravel and Ernest Chausson, released by Harmonia Mundi on CD.
The disc brings together two masterpieces of French chamber music: Maurice Ravel's Piano Trio (1914) and Ernest Chausson's Trio in G minor, Op. 3 (1881), the latter far less recorded. The Wanderer Trio, comprising Vincent Coq, Jean-Marc Phillips-Varjabedian and Raphaël Pidoux, delivers a performance combining sensitivity and passion, highlighting the interplay between piano and strings.
Single CD edition in the musique d'abord collection, reference HMA 1951967. The recording includes the Ravel work and the Chausson trio; the booklet offers notes in English, French and German.
Suitable for classical and chamber music enthusiasts, as well as those seeking an inspired rendition of two piano trios from the French repertoire.
