«Piano Concertos 1 & 3» is the album by Tchaikovsky released by EMI Classics For Pleasure on CD.
This recording brings together two piano concertos by Tchaikovsky: No. 1 and No. 3. They are performed by Philip Fowke on piano with the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Wilfried Boettcher. They are works of orchestral Romanticism with virtuoso passages, wide contrasts and moments of great lyricism.
The recording took place in January 1984 at Watford Town Hall; the edition is a single disc, on the Classics For Pleasure label from EMI.
For classical music listeners, especially those interested in the Romantic repertoire for piano and orchestra.
