«Pelléas et Mélisande» is the recording of Claude Debussy's opera released by Diverdi on CD in 2007.
Opera in five acts based on the symbolist drama by Maurice Maeterlinck. In an imaginary kingdom, the enigmatic Mélisande arrives at court after being found in a forest; her marriage to Golaud and her attraction to Pelléas unleash jealousy and fatality. The score creates a dreamlike atmosphere, with silences and suggestions.
Recording with the French National Radio Orchestra conducted by André Cluytens and the voices of Victoria de los Ángeles and Gérard Souzay.
