«Out to Lunch!» is the avant-garde jazz album by Eric Dolphy, released by Blue Note Records on CD.
Recorded in the mid-1960s, the album brings together Eric Dolphy with Freddie Hubbard, Bobby Hutcherson, Richard Davis and Tony Williams. Its compositions explore avant-garde jazz and post-bop with free structures and intense dialogues between instruments, moving away from conventional hard bop forms. The cover, with the door and the clock, reflects the title's ironic tone.
CD edition, single unit, released by Blue Note Records.
For avant-garde jazz fans and Blue Note collectors interested in one of the label's most celebrated sessions.
