«Opera Choruses» is the compilation by Giuseppe Verdi with Riccardo Muti leading the Chorus and Orchestra of Teatro alla Scala, on CD (EMI Classics, 1992).
The disc brings together famous Verdi choruses from operas such as Nabucco, Ernani, Il trovatore, Rigoletto, La forza del destino and Macbeth, and from his Messa da Requiem. Highlights include «Va, pensiero» from Nabucco, the gypsy chorus from Il trovatore and «La Vergine degli angeli» from La forza del destino, with soprano Mirella Freni.
The CD includes 17 tracks and about 54 minutes of music; Dolora Zajick sings in «Rataplan, rataplan, della gloria» from La forza del destino.
Will appeal to opera and classical music fans wanting a selection of great Verdi choruses with Riccardo Muti.
