«On the Wing» is the studio album by Stephan Micus, released in 2006 on ECM Records, on CD.
An instrumental suite in ten movements in which Stephan Micus turns the album into a sonic journey. Without lyrics or voice, the music evokes landscapes and ceremonies through instruments from very diverse cultures. The central piece, «The Bride», has a ceremonial character and serves as the meeting point of the whole.
Recorded between 2003 and 2006, it is Micus's first work without voice since 1990. It brings together instruments from twelve countries and regions, such as the sattar, the mudbedsh, the hn, the mandobahar and the hang.
Suitable for fans of world music and contemporary jazz who appreciate ethnic instrumentation and meditative suites.
