«O Felice Morire - Firenze, 1600» is the album by Joel Frederiksen and the Ensemble Phoenix Munich, released on CD in 2008 by Harmonia Mundi.
The disc brings together arias and madrigals from Florence in 1600 by composers such as Giulio Caccini, Claudio Monteverdi and Johannes Hieronymus Kapsberger. Joel Frederiksen's deep bass voice and the Ensemble Phoenix Munich recreate the stile recitativo and the transition from the Renaissance to the early Baroque.
The 2008 French edition was released with catalogue number HMC 901999 and vocal texts in Italian.
It will appeal to fans of early music and chamber music, particularly the vocal repertoire of the seventeenth century.
