«Nonets» is the chamber music album by the Ensemble Wien-Berlin featuring works by Louis Spohr and Bohuslav Martinů, released in 1989 on Deutsche Grammophon, on CD.
The disc brings together two chamber nonets: Louis Spohr's, within Romanticism, and Bohuslav Martinů's, of a modern neoclassical aesthetic. The Ensemble Wien-Berlin performs them with an unusual line-up, and the recording highlights the contrast between the two idioms.
European CD edition of a disc, with catalogue number 427 640-2 and digital recording (DDD).
For chamber music enthusiasts interested in contrasting Spohr's Romanticism with Martinů's Neoclassicism.
