«L'alphabet des grands musiciens» is the double album by Yann Walcker, narrated by Pierre Hatet, published in 1997 by Gallimard Jeunesse, on 2 CDs.
The book and two CDs bring together 44 classical composers: for each musician there is a poem by Yann Walcker read by Pierre Hatet, an extract from a representative piece, and a brief biography. The illustrations round out the portrait of each figure and bring the listener closer to classical music from both a literary and a sonic perspective.
The set consists of a hundred-page book and two CDs; the texts are in French and the record label is Erato.
Aimed at children from around 7 years old, though also suitable for adults seeking a first approach to classical music.
