«Krontjong Asli: Melancholie Uit Ons Indische Verleden» is a various-artists compilation, released in 1990 by EMI on CD.
The title alludes to the melancholy of the Dutch colonial past in Indonesia, and the compilation brings together krontjong pieces, a style of traditional Indonesian music, with a serene and old-fashioned air. The cover image, with two people by a pond and palm trees, reinforces that nostalgic view of the East Indies.
Dutch edition from the EMI-Bovema label, catalogue number 7943382; genre folk, world and country. Language: Indonesian.
For fans of traditional and world music and of nostalgic sounds from the Dutch East Indies.
