«Kagel: Works for Flute» is the classical music album by Michael Faust featuring works by Mauricio Kagel, released in 2012 by Naxos on CD.
The disc brings together four works by Mauricio Kagel for flute. 'Das Konzert', his particular response to the flute and orchestra concerto, alternates spectral atmospheres and confrontation. 'Pan', for piccolo and string quartet, parodies Mozart's Papageno. The two versions of 'Phantasiestück' show Kagel's irony and his link with Schumann.
Michael Faust plays flute and piccolo; Paulo Álvares, piano; Ensemble Contrasts and Sinfonia Finlandia Jyväskylä, with Robert HP Platz and Patrick Gallois as conductors. Recorded in 2010 in Jyväskylä and Bonn.
For contemporary classical music fans who enjoy Kagel's theatricality and humour.
