«July Flame» is the album by Laura Veirs, released in 2010 on Raven Marching Band, on CD.
July Flame evokes the fullness of summer with a luminous, restrained chamber folk: fingerpicked guitars and string arrangements wrap around lyrics that oscillate between the desire for permanence and the certainty that nothing lasts. It includes the title track and «Summer is the Champion», with contributions from Jim James among its guests.
Recorded and mixed at home with producer Tucker Martine. Karl Blau and Steve Moore collaborate, with viola by Eyvind Kang and string arrangements by Stephen Barber.
For listeners of indie folk and singer-songwriter music who appreciate string arrangements, evocative lyrics and careful production.
