«I Pagliacci» is the recording of the opera by Ruggiero Leoncavallo, released in 1999 by Saar on CD.
The opera centres on a troupe of travelling comedians: as they perform their show, the jealousy and passion of real life become confused with the fiction of the spectacle. This complete recording preserves the dramatic and emotional intensity of Leoncavallo's verismo.
CD edition of one disc, sung in Italian. Featuring Beniamino Gigli, Iva Pacetti, Mario Basiola, Giuseppe Nessi and Leone Paci, conducted by Franco Ghione.
For opera enthusiasts and collectors of historical recordings, interested in classic versions of the twentieth-century verismo repertoire.
