«I Capuleti e i Montecchi» is the three-act opera by Vincenzo Bellini, released in 1998 by RCA Red Seal on CD.
The opera recreates the conflict between the Capulets and the Montagues and the impossible love of Romeo and Juliet. In this recording, Vesselina Kasarova sings Romeo and Eva Mei sings Juliet, with Ramón Vargas in the cast. The love duet in the first act is one of the work's most outstanding passages.
The performance is by the Münchner Rundfunkorchester conducted by Roberto Abbado. Edition in a 3-CD set.
For fans of romantic opera and bel canto, particularly interested in the voices of Kasarova and Mei.
