«Hommage à Cheikh Raymond» is the album by Enrico Macias, released in 1999 by Msi, on CD.
Enrico Macias pays tribute to his father-in-law and mentor, Cheikh Raymond Leyris, master of Algerian maluf, in a live recording from the 1999 Printemps de Bourges. With Taoufik Bestandji and the Ensemble Foundok, he explores noubas and Oriental varieties across two volumes, with pieces such as Bacheraf zidane and Istikhbar, evoking the Judeo-Arab tradition of Constantine.
The vocals are in Arabic and French. The album includes a duet with Cheb Mami.
For fans of traditional and world music, especially the Andalusian repertoire of the Maghreb.
