«Harlem Banjo!» is the album by The Elmer Snowden Quartet with Cliff Jackson, released by Original Jazz Classics on CD.
Agile banjo and festive atmosphere: this recording moves between the spirit of the twenties and the forties. Elmer Snowden, a veteran leader whose early bands shaped Count Basie and Duke Ellington, plays with his quartet and Cliff Jackson adds his stride piano. Includes 'It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)' and 'C-Jam Blues'.
Limited remastered reissue on one disc, part of the Original Jazz Classics series (OJCCD-1756-2); material from Riverside Records.
For fans of traditional jazz, dixieland and ragtime, and the history of the banjo.
