«Handel: Trio Sonatas» is the Baroque chamber album by Convivium with works for oboe and violin, released in 2000 by Hyperion Records, on CD.
The album presents Baroque chamber sonatas for oboe, violin and continuo. Six of them, attributed to a very young Handel, have disputed authorship and alternate slow movements of noble dignity with fast passages of wit and counterpoint. It also includes Sonata No. 8 in G minor, composed around 1720, of greater maturity and textural variety.
Edition with 1 disc, reference CDA67083, DDD digital recording; the recording took place at St Michael's Church, Highgate, London.
Recommended for fans of Baroque music and chamber repertoire with oboe and violin.
