«Flute Concertos» is the concertos album by Johann Stamitz, with Robert Aitken and the St Christopher Chamber Orchestra, released in 2009 by Naxos on CD.
The CD brings together four flute concertos by Johann Stamitz, works of the early Classical period combining instrumental virtuosity, lyricism and a character close to Bohemian music, showing the transition from Baroque to Classical style. It includes movements such as Allegro, Adagio e cantabile and Presto non assai.
The recording was made at the St. Catherine's Concert Hall in Vilnius (Lithuania) in June 2006. Catalogue number: 8.570150. Total duration: 69:15. Booklet with notes in English.
For classical music enthusiasts interested in eighteenth-century orchestral repertoire and in Stamitz as a pioneer of the symphony.
