«Fauré: Requiem» is the classical music album with works by Gabriel Fauré, Louis Vierne and Déodat de Séverac, released in 1994 by Naxos, on CD.
Fauré's Requiem is presented in a serene and intimate version, with the original instrumentation and its seven movements, far from the grandiosity of other requiems. The album also includes Vierne's Andantino, Séverac's Tantum ergo, the Messe basse and the Cantique de Jean Racine. Highlights include «Pie Jesu», «In paradisum» and «Sanctus».
Performed by Lisa Beckley, Nicholas Gedge, the Schola Cantorum of Oxford and the Oxford Camerata, under the direction of Jeremy Summerly, and recorded in the chapel of Hertford College, Oxford, in May 1993.
For fans of choral music and historically informed performances of the French Romantic repertoire.
