«Egypt» is the album by Youssou N'Dour, released in 2004 by Nonesuch, on CD.
Youssou N'Dour returns to his Senegalese roots and blends the rhythms of his country with Egyptian and Arabic orchestral arrangements, performed by traditional musicians from Dakar and Cairo. The result is a celebration of Senegal's mystical Muslim culture, with tracks such as «Allah», «Shukran Bamba» and «Touba - Daru Salaam».
Eight tracks and 41 minutes in length, between folk and world music, with influences of Senegalese mbalax.
For listeners interested in crossovers between West African tradition and the Arab world.
