«Duke Ellington & John Coltrane» is the jazz album by Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, released in 1995 by Impulse, on CD.
The album records the 1962 meeting between Duke Ellington's piano and John Coltrane's saxophone, with Elvin Jones on drums, Aaron Bell, Jimmy Garrison on double bass and Sam Woodyard. The session mixes original compositions and jazz standards in a crossover between Ellington's swing and Coltrane's expressiveness, two generations of the genre face to face.
Originally recorded in 1962, this remastered reissue in 1995 by Impulse includes production by Michael Cuscuna on a single CD.
For lovers of classic jazz and admirers of Duke Ellington and John Coltrane.
