«Descobrimento do Brasil - Suites Nos. 1-4» is the classical music album by Heitor Villa-Lobos, released in 2003 by Marco Polo, on CD.
The work brings together four orchestral suites about the discovery of Brazil and combines classical orchestration with motifs from Brazilian music; the cover, with a scene of encounter between indigenous people and European explorers, refers to that historical theme.
The recording is by the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra (Bratislava), conducted by Roberto Duarte. The edition belongs to the Latin-American Classics series, number 8.223551.
For classical music listeners and fans of Brazilian symphonic repertoire.
