«Debussy: Piano Works, Vol. 4 – Préludes, Books 1 and 2» is the Debussy album performed by François-Joël Thiollier, released in 1998 by Naxos on CD.
The album brings together the two books of Préludes for piano that Debussy completed in 1910 and 1913. Thiollier's performance includes pieces such as «La fille aux cheveux de lin», «La cathédrale engloutie» and «Feux d'artifice», within a sonic universe of impressionist atmospheres and suggestive piano writing.
The CD lasts 70:23, was recorded at the Church of Saint Marcel in Paris in September 1996 and corresponds to the Naxos catalogue 8.553293; the cover reproduces a painting by Paul Cézanne.
For classical music and impressionist piano enthusiasts who want a complete version of the two books of Préludes on a single CD.
