«Concerto for Orchestra» is the album by Béla Bartók with the Berlin Philharmonic and Herbert von Karajan, released by Deutsche Grammophon on CD.
The CD brings together two orchestral works by Béla Bartók: the Concerto for Orchestra (Sz 116), in five movements, and Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta (Sz 106), in four. It includes «Introduzione» and «Gioco delle coppie»; the Concerto combines rich orchestration with Hungarian folk echoes, and the second plays with string and percussion textures.
The recording belongs to Deutsche Grammophon's Galleria series, with Original-Image Bit-Processing remastering and catalogue number 457 890-2.
For classical music listeners interested in twentieth-century orchestral repertoire and in Karajan's versions with the Berlin Philharmonic.
