«Complete Works for Violin and Piano» is the classical music album by Felix Mendelssohn, performed by Nomos Duo, released in 2001 by Naxos on CD.
The CD brings together Mendelssohn's complete output for violin and piano: the three sonatas (in F major from 1838, in F minor Op. 4 and in F major from 1820) and five short pieces, including movements, andantes and fugues. Nicholas Milton and Nina-Margrét Grímsdóttir, of the Nomos Duo, offer a melodic reading with a subtle atmosphere, typical of Romantic chamber music.
Edition with catalogue number 8.554725 and DDD recording, made at Digranes Church in Kópavogur (Iceland) in January 1998. The cover reproduces the Gewandhaus in Leipzig.
Suitable for classical and chamber music enthusiasts, and for those who want to discover Mendelssohn's complete violin and piano repertoire in a single recording.
