«Chroma» is the ambient electronic album by Laurel MacDonald, released in 1999 on Wicklow, on CD.
Chroma crosses vocal experimentation with drone tones: lullaby, meditation and ambient at once. MacDonald's voice ranges from low moan to whisper, with dense textures and electroacoustic accompaniment of guitars and percussion. It includes «Agnus Dei», «A Wing and a Prayer» and «Northsong», with roots in Anglo-Saxon lyric, the Egyptian scale and Gaelic heritage.
The edition consists of a single CD and falls within electronics as downtempo and ambient; catalogue number 09026-63270-2.
For listeners of ambient electronic and vocal experimentation in the vein of Lisa Gerrard or Kate Bush.
