«Chopin: 14 Valses» is the album by Maria João Pires featuring Frédéric Chopin's piano waltzes, released in 1984 by Erato on CD.
The album brings together the fourteen piano waltzes composed by Frédéric Chopin, performed by Maria João Pires with elegant phrasing and a highly personal expressive range. The Portuguese pianist traverses these romantic dances alternating moments of virtuosic brilliance and passages of lyrical melancholy, giving each waltz its own character within the intimate language of romantic piano music.
The CD consists of a single disc and the catalogue number 2292-45213-2 appears on the cover; the original Erato recording, released in France in 1984, appears here in CD edition.
For fans of romantic piano music, classical music lovers, and followers of Maria João Pires's interpretations.
