Synopsis of Carmina Burana
Carmina Burana es una cantata compuesta entre 1935 y 1936 por Carl Orff, basada en 24 poemas de la colección medieval Carmina Burana. Su título completo en latín es Carmina Burana: Cantiones profanae cantoribus et choris cantandae comitantibus instrumentis atque imaginibus magicis ("Canciones de Beuern: Canciones seculares para cantantes y coros para ser cantadas junto con instrumentos e imágenes mágicas"). Fue estrenada por la Ópera de Frankfurt el 8 de junio de 1937. Forma parte de Trionfi, un tríptico musical que también incluye Catulli Carmina y Trionfo di Afrodite. Las secciones primera y última de la pieza se llaman "Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi" ("Fortuna, Emperatriz del Mundo") y comienzan con "O Fortuna".
