«Carmina Burana» is Carl Orff's scenic cantata, released on CD by Philips in the Silver Line Classics series.
Composed by Carl Orff in 1935 and 1936, the scenic cantata sets 24 poems from the 13th-century Goliard collection to music with choir, orchestra and soloists; the texts celebrate spring, love and satire.
Version with Casapietra, Hiestermann and Stryczek, the Rundfunkchor Leipzig and the Sinfonie-Orchester Leipzig, conducted by Herbert Kegel. Digitally remastered reissue in the Silver Line Classics series.
