«Buddenbrooks» is the audio drama based on the novel by Thomas Mann and the film of the same name by Heinrich Breloer, released in 2011 by Der Hörverlag on CD.
Buddenbrooks tells the story of a family of German merchants over several generations: their economic rise, their internal conflicts, and their gradual decline in 19th-century Germany. This sound adaptation dramatises Thomas Mann's celebrated saga with a cast of voices, turning the novel into an audio experience close to radio theatre.
It consists of two CDs and is recorded in German; it is the sound version of the film of the same name by Heinrich Breloer.
For listeners with a command of German and followers of Thomas Mann interested in dramatised versions rather than reading.
