«Brahms: The Two Cello Sonatas» is the Brahms album performed by Jacqueline du Pré and Daniel Barenboim, released in 1989 by EMI Studio on CD.
The album brings together Brahms's two sonatas for cello and piano: the one in E minor, his first sonata for solo instrument and piano, melancholic in tone with stormy passages, and the one in F major, composed years later, more lyrical and dramatic. The recording captures the dialogue between Jacqueline du Pré's cello and Daniel Barenboim's piano.
Single-disc stereo edition, catalogue number CDM 7 63298 2.
For fans of Romantic chamber music, particularly Brahms's sonatas and the performances of Jacqueline du Pré and Daniel Barenboim.
