«Blue Velvet» is the album of orchestral covers by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, released in 2006 by Delta Music, on CD.
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra reinterprets a handful of popular songs in a symphonic key, with arrangements that move between melodic pop and film music. A collection of new orchestral versions conceived as an accompanying soundtrack, where familiar melodies gain a broad orchestral colour.
Blue Velvet consists of a single disc and its original edition is German.
It appeals to classical music listeners, soundtrack fans, and those who enjoy symphonic versions of familiar melodies.
