«Bay Area Trashers: The Early Years» is an unofficial Metallica compilation CD, released in 1998 by Ranch Life.
The disc compiles seven tracks from Metallica's early years, with a raw, direct sound between thrash and heavy metal. These include «Hit the Lights», «Seek and Destroy» and «Motorbreath», representative of that period.
Unofficial edition with catalogue number CRANCH 1; the cover reads «Bay Area Thrashers The Early Days».
Will appeal to Metallica collectors and thrash metal fans seeking unofficial recordings from the band's early years.
