«Bali: Music for the Gong Gede» is the traditional music album by the musicians of the Batur and Tampaksiring temples, released on CD by Ocora in 1987.
It brings together six pieces of gamelan gong gede recorded in Bali in 1972, with the ensembles of the Batur and Tampaksiring temples. It alternates long compositions such as «Tabuh Loma-Loma», over twenty-two minutes long, with shorter pieces such as «Tabuh Telu» and «Galan Kangin», and showcases the sonority of the gongs and percussion of Balinese gamelan.
Recorded in September 1972 by Jacques Brunet. CD released in 1987 with the reference HM CD 83, Ocora label and distribution by Harmonia Mundi France. Texts and photographs: Jacques Brunet.
For fans of traditional Indonesian music, gamelan and ethnographic recordings from the 1970s.
