«Bach: Mass in B Minor (Highlights)» is the album by Nikolaus Harnoncourt and the Concentus Musicus Wien, released by Erato on CD.
This recording brings together a selection of passages from Johann Sebastian Bach's Mass in B minor, a central work of Baroque sacred music. The performance, by Nikolaus Harnoncourt and the Concentus Musicus Wien, combines the solemnity of the choruses with the expressiveness of the arias, within a historically informed approach.
The recording is presented on a single CD; the text of the Mass in B minor, BWV 232, is sung in Latin.
Intended both for Bach connoisseurs and for listeners approaching classical music for the first time.
