«Bach: Coffee Cantata, Peasant Cantata» is the album by Johann Sebastian Bach with Emma Kirkby, David Thomas and The Academy of Ancient Music, on vinyl LP.
The album brings together two secular cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach: the Coffee Cantata, BWV 211, and the Peasant Cantata, BWV 212. The first treats a young woman's addiction to coffee with irony; the second offers festive rural scenes full of musical allusions. Emma Kirkby and David Thomas sing the solo parts with The Academy of Ancient Music.
Conducted by Christopher Hogwood. Released in 1987 by L'Oiseau-Lyre in the Florilegium series.
