«Antony and The Johnsons» is the self-titled debut album by Antony & The Johnsons, CD reissue released in 2004 by Secretly Canadian.
The album combines chamber cabaret and lush orchestral arrangements, with Antony Hegarty's emotive voice over piano, strings, bass and drums. The songs move between devotion and drama, with pieces like Twilight, River of sorrow and Blue angel.
The debut album was originally released in 1998 on the Durtro label; this reissue includes all 9 songs, sung in English.
For listeners of baroque pop, cabaret and art rock seeking a singular voice and intimate orchestral arrangements.
