«An American in Paris, Porgy and Bess Suite, Gershwin in Hollywood» is a CD album by George Gershwin with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and James Judd.
The title work describes an American's stroll through Paris, with jazz and blues inflections. The symphonic picture from Porgy and Bess condenses the opera's most celebrated passages, and Gershwin in Hollywood presents famous songs by the composer in orchestral versions. The recording closes with a Cuban overture in rumba rhythm.
Recorded at the Michael Fowler Centre in Wellington in July 2001. Total duration: 65:12. Catalogue number: 8.559107.
