«A Farewell to Kings» is the album by Rush, released in 1989 by Universal, on CD.
Fifth album by Rush, it marks the evolution of the Canadian trio towards a symphonic and theatrical progressive rock, with extensive arrangements and synthesizers. Highlights include «Xanadu», «Closer to the Heart» and «Cygnus X-1». The title, inspired by Hemingway, and the cover with the puppet king and empty thrones point to a critique of monarchy and feudalism.
The original album is from 1977; this CD reissue, with a single disc, carries catalogue number 822 546-2.
Recommended for Rush followers and fans of progressive rock and classic hard rock from the seventies.
