«Wonderful Town» is the film by Aditya Assarat (2007), starring Anchalee Sassoontiros and Supphast Kansen, on DVD.
In Takua Pa, a village in southern Thailand still recovering from a tsunami, an architect from Bangkok arrives to oversee the reconstruction of a hotel. He stays at the only establishment still standing, run by Na, its young owner. The attraction between them clashes with the distrust of the neighbours, who cannot conceive of hope being reborn among the rubble.
DVD region 2, audio in Thai with Spanish subtitles. Not recommended for children under 7.
Recognised at festivals such as Pusan, Rotterdam and Berlin, it is independent cinema for those seeking intimate dramas about reconstruction and second chances.
