In 1995 Bosnia, Vlado, an orphaned boy, takes refuge from the war in a fantasy world with Eskimos. He meets Sharkey, an Englishman who claims to be from a humanitarian organisation but traffics children. Despite this, they strike up a friendship; getting Vlado out of the country is complicated by a corrupt official who blames him for his daughter's death.
