«Un Lugar Llamado Milagro» is Robert Redford's 1988 film, starring Rubén Blades, Sonia Braga and Christopher Walken, on DVD.
Joe Mondragón, a Chicano worker in Milagro Valley, irrigates his plot with water meant for a large urban development project. That illegal act triggers unpredictable events for him and his community. With a tone blending reality and fantasy, the film shows a group of neighbours fighting to preserve their way of life.
Original title: The Milagro Beanfield War. Includes audio tracks in Spanish and English and subtitles in several languages. Winner of the Academy Award (1989) for Best Original Score.
Suitable for all audiences: an ensemble drama with humour and a touch of fable for those who enjoy community stories.
