«The Lover» is the film by Jean-Jacques Annaud starring Jane March and Tony Leung, on DVD.
Based on the autobiographical novel by Marguerite Duras, the film follows the forbidden romance between a young French woman from an impoverished family and the son of a wealthy Chinese family in 1920s Indochina, a love that clashes with family rejection and social and cultural differences. Their first encounter, on a ferry on the Mekong River, unleashes a passion that will mark them both.
DVD with 1 disc, widescreen 1.85:1, Dolby Digital 2.0 sound in English and French, and subtitles in English, French and Spanish. Unrated edition.
