The Last Starfighter is a classic 1984 science fiction adventure film that follows Alex Rogan, a teenager from a trailer park with an extraordinary talent for video games. His life takes an unexpected turn when he discovers that the game he has been mastering is actually a training simulator to recruit pilots for a real intergalactic war. Recruited by the charismatic alien Centauri, Alex must leave Earth to join the Star League and fight in a battle for the survival of the universe. Directed by Nick Castle and starring Lance Guest, Dan O'Herlihy, and Robert Preston, the film is celebrated for its pioneering use of computer-generated special effects.
