«Swallows and Amazons» is the film based on Arthur Ransome's novel, starring Virginia McKenna and Ronald Fraser, on DVD.
Four children spend their holidays on the Norfolk Broads and, with their sailboat Swallow, camp on an island. Their summer of exploration is disrupted when the Amazon, another boat with a child crew, appears and claims the territory. The film recreates the freedom, imagination and innocence of childhood in rural England of another era.
It adapts the first novel of Arthur Ransome's children's adventure series. The DVD includes 88 minutes of footage, in English, in region 2 format and with one disc.
Rated suitable for all audiences by the BBFC, it is a family film offering for children and for readers of Arthur Ransome's series.
