«Stigmata» is the supernatural horror film by Rupert Wainwright (1999), starring Patricia Arquette, Gabriel Byrne and Jonathan Pryce, on DVD.
Frankie, a young hairdresser, begins to suffer inexplicable stigmata, the wounds of Christ's crucifixion. A priest sent by the Vatican investigates the phenomenon and discovers that the woman's body could be the conduit for a message the Church wants to silence. The story blends faith, mystery and horror in an investigation that pits the supernatural against religious institutions.
The DVD edition includes audio in English and French, with subtitles in Spanish, English and French. The film has a running time of 103 minutes and is region 1.
Recommended for those seeking a late-90s supernatural horror thriller, with a religious intrigue starring familiar faces from genre cinema.
