«Sieben Jahre in Tibet» is the film by Jean-Jacques Annaud (1997), starring Brad Pitt, David Thewlis and Tenzin Wang Chuck, on DVD.
Based on a true story, it follows Austrian mountaineer Heinrich Harrer, who travels to the Himalayas to climb Nanga Parbat and, after escaping a British prisoner-of-war camp, reaches Lhasa with his companion Aufschnaiter. There he befriends the young Dalai Lama and becomes his tutor as Tibet approaches the Chinese invasion.
